For a long time, outdoor tanning and swimming was non-existing in New York City but now with the emergence of these five great pool spots scattered throughout the city, urbanites can escape the bustle of the city (if just for a day) to paradise.

Gift NY at the Grace Hotel

This pool, located at The Grace Hotel, on 125 W 45th St., is a completely indoor swimming establishment resembling a mini spa. The area is dimly lit and gives off a more sultry feel which is a stark contrast from Times Square right outside. The pool has a swim up bar which makes drinking and swimming a must. The lobby also sells bathing suites just in case you forgot yours!

Gansevoort Summer Series

This pool, located at  Gansevoort Park Avenue on 420 Park Ave South is Manhattans first indoor/outdoor pool. It is a great place to go for a swim regardless of the weather outside. Live music and delicious cocktails make the environment fun and inviting. The pool even is adorned with a large picture of a pinup girl on the floor. This pool is usually reserved for hotel guests, but opens to everyone else on Sunday afternoons. Reserve a poolside table to guarantee entrance into the establishment.

Water Lounge at Great Jones Spa

Located downtown at the Great Jones Spa on 29 Great Jones Street, this indoor pool is a great place to relax and drink some revitalizing smoothies before or after spa treatments. Unlike other NYC pool hotspots, this location is more low key and revitalizing. This aquatic wonderland contains a waterfall, a thermal pool, a steam room or sauna, as well as an ice bath. The location is also adorned with lounge chairs for relaxation.

Dream Hotel Sunset Saturday Party

On Saturdays the Dream Hotel downtown holds a sunset Saturday party, which features a swimming, drinking, and tanning extravaganza on the roof of the hotel. The bottom of the pool is made of glass which gives a clear view of the lobby of the hotel. Swimmers can look down into the lobby while guests in the lobby can observe the luxurious pool.

RockBeach

Located at Fort Tilden Beach on 3159 Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn, this “pool” is not so much a pool, but a mini inflatable water park. This location includes a slip n slide on steroids. This aquatic fun land is good for days when you want to forget about your responsibilies and revert back to your childhood.
