My Adventures in Speed Dating

For research, (oh, the things we journalists have to do in the name of research…) I attended three fun-filled speed dating events. Also in the name of research, I chose three different persona’s for the three different events: British Airways Stewardess, Professional Chef, and International Fashion Model. I was curious to see if these men were really serious about meeting an intelligent woman for a serious relationship. For the first event I told the men that I was a stewardess and was away most of the time and therefore not looking for anything serious. As a professional chef, I showed my best sophisticated and educated face, and, as a fashion model, I was uncomplicated and bubbly. Let’s see what the men preferred…

  1. Asking specific questions that will determine if you can tolerate him outside the speed date is the best questions. I personally ask if they believe the earth is flat. Then I ask about his views on religion, Then the best question I can ever be made. Why is a manhole cover round?

  2. Speed dating is really exciting. Each time I make a decision to attend or participate in speed dating events, I remind myself to have an open mind to make my experience a memorable and truly enjoyable one.

    I have been hearing about “speed dating” but haven’t really tried participating. After reading this article, I realized it would be a really fun experience.

    I imagine it would be a lot of fun to put on different personas, especially since you didn't care that much about actually getting a date. I would totally break a sweat if someone blew my cover though. Great "research!"
